Making Waves x Mike Fort
Behind the lens with a commercial fisherman
It's a pleasure to introduce Mike Fort, a long-standing supporter of the show, photographer, commercial fisher, and avid spearfisher. Mike grew up on the water and started fishing after graduating high school at the age of nineteen. It's no surprise that he is passionate about the ocean, having over four generations of fishermen in his blood. He currently lives and works out of Neptune, Jersey, working on a boat that fishes for both scallops and fluke.
Mike has since grabbed his camera and began documenting his days at sea, capturing the daily work, beautiful sunsets, and anything else he encounters offshore. It's a way for him to give others a window into a fishermen's everyday life while pursuing his passion for photography.
"Fishing is not an escape from life, but often a deeper immersion into it..."
Be sure to give Mike your support and check out his photography at @hell_bent_local and @land_and_sea_nj on Instagram. It was a pleasure getting to know a bit more about Mike and featuring him in "Making Waves." Do you know someone who is Making Waves? Please email firstname.lastname@example.org to get in touch and to get featured in the next installment of Making Waves.
